Spring break is officially here. We like to ring in the vacation with a good knock down fight- and keep them coming all vacation. I try to be referee to these fights but that seems to last a few minutes. So I say "let the fight begin, and drive yourself to the ER"!! Should be a fun week.

My battle with letting go

The Serenity Prayer God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can;and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful worldas it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. Proverbs 3, 5-6 God has a plan. No matter how many times I tell myself this I still question it. Letting go of My Plan (which I think would be less painful) and giving all control to God- sounds good, if it were not for my sinful nature. So my prayer for today is to let go, knowing God is in full control!!!

The preparations are nearly complete. My last minute frantic shopping is done. Now it's time to relax and enjoy. Now that it is all done and the rush of getting it done (as stressful as it can be) I get to relax. But now all the distractions are gone and an overwhelming sadness fills my heart. Last Christmas was crazy with my sisters, brother in law, nephews, and mom all staying at our house, but we were all together. This Christmas will be much smaller and quieter, but as we spend our last Christmas here at our this home, alone (my Mom will also be here) my heart aches. I want to and need to enjoy the things I have, and most of all keep my focus on my Savior! Those words are so much easier said then done, my goal for this Christmas is keep my eyes open to the miracle of Jesus. The life He lived and the sacrifice's made for me. What a joyous day we get to celebrate!! The song lyrics "Joyful, joyful, we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love " keep going through my mind. I love it when God uses a song to change my "tune". "Jesus put a song in my heart, a joyful melody that sings of His wonderful love" is an old song from Psalty that I love and pray that your hearts will be filled with "a joyful melody" this Christmas.

We are off to Washington for the "Best of the Northwest Nationals" cheer competition. It is all the girls have been talking about for weeks now. I was freaking out a bit about how we would afford this trip. God is good! All the details are coming together, and yes even the financial part. When my eyes are open to God working I am so convicted that I don't pay attention to Him working in my life everyday. He cares about every little detail, what an AMAZING God we serve.

We are only a few short months away from that dreaded word "MIDDLE SCHOOL". For months now that word has been off limits at our house. The reality is, that it is coming and coming fast. Now the hard part begins, where does God want Macie. We are looking at our options and feeling so inadequate to make this HUGE decision. It seems like we were just walking this small little girl through the doors of a big school, and now the thought of a bigger school scares me. Macie seems fine with it all, even a little excited. I keep thinking she must be crazy to be looking forward to this huge change in her world, but she is more secure in herself than I was at that age. That step into Middle school opens their hearts and minds to thing we have tried so hard to sheild her from. We know God has a plan for our little girl, and now I just need a little peace to go with that plan-whatever it may be.

So I took Marley to the doctor, which she knew a chocking test would come (aka-strep test). The first test was negative. Now they send it off to Portland to check it out again. She is drugged up on med's and now she seems healthy but GRUMPY!!! What's a mom to do??? More med's might make her sleep, no med's might make her sleep, the right amount=GRUMPY!!! Pray for ME- Oh I guess you could pray for her to (lol).

Sickness strikes again!!

This time it's Marley. Her neck started hurting yesterday, which totally freaks me out. I had her touch her chin to her chest and that did not seem to bother her and no spots, so meningitis is out of the question- just a sore neck I guess. In the wee wee hours of the morning she came in my bed with a fever. She tossed and turned all night long, so I am pretty sure I only slept about 10 minutes (lol). She has a cheer competition this weekend, so she better buck up and beat this (lol). Well it looks like we may have a doctor visit in our near future.

Well here it is 1:20 in the morning, and I need to be up by 6:00. Marley has her cheer competition today. She hates to get her hair fixed and would imagine by the time I do get some sleep I might be a little grumpy- so watch out Marley. Gosh it has been forever since my last post. Give me a little coffee at night and I'm back. Well what's new, you ask????? Marci comes back in 4 days and Mindie & JJ in 9 days. We are so excited!!!!! My house was decorated for Christmas in record time due to bunko at my house- the garage is a mess due to the fact that anything in my way got tossed in the garage & yes I mean tossed!! Which really stinks because we had just cleaned it out so we could park the van inside, and wouldn't you know it- frost every morning. Doug is still working in Salem, and every Friday we pray that they will need him the next week. Macie is busy with soccer and Falcon news. Marley is keeping busy with cheer and she can't get enough reading in everyday. She loves this new world of independence that reading has given her. Then there is Ellie. she loves school and is the best little cheerleader for her sisters. I know this is all over the place, I hope you can follow this crazy post. Well I am going to try and change my front page and hopfully get tierd. Next time I am stupid enough to have coffee at night I will post again.

Well here is the update to my medical saga. It all started September 2nd. I woke up to a swollen eye lid. I went to my first of 7 doctor visits. First I was told it was a infection. Third visit I was told that I had a reaction to the meds, so I switched. Still getting worse by the day I went to one of my first ER visits. I was told I had staph infection. Several days later, still getting worse, I was diagnosed with "Steven Johnson-syndrome". Today on one of what will hopefully be the last visit for this saga, I was told that I look better. The words I have been waiting for. My last appointment is on Monday- just to make sure it is healing well. Good-bye sunglasses, Hello make-up!

The garage sale started very slow, if you don't count the two morons who could not read the ad that said no early sales!!! It was still pretty slow. We sold about half of our "trash". I am so glad to be done with the clutter that garage sale preparations seem to stir up.

Tonight while I was in the bathroom at the sink I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Yes, the biggest spider I have ever seen in a house, especially mine. I yelled for Doug- now let me stop here to fill you in on our spider history in our house, a huge spider consists of a dot on the wall- so I yelled and he came in the room. When he saw the spider he said "holy crap". Yes it was that big. Now I am suffering from the spider willies.

Well it's true- we are a family of 7 now. We are so sad that it will only be for 3 weeks. We are hosting 2 girls from China. We have loved spending time with the girls(Alaina & Ruby). Marley and Ellie have really gotten attached to them. Macie still has the shy factor going. We have really enjoyed getting to know them. The language barrier has made for some funny moments. Alaina is 14 and much more mature than Ruby. She knows English quite well. She has finally let down her guard and is very comfortable with us, but she has taken a liking to Marley and loves showing her some of her cool electronics. Ruby (AKA- Aaron) is 13 and just a sweet young lady. She is not confident with her ability with communicating in English, Alaina does most of the translation. We have taken them out to the berry fields, watched fire works, gone shopping, gone shopping, gone shopping, played on the beach, spent the day on the farm riding the rapids lol, BBQ's with many hot dogs, played at the pool, and so much more and we are only a week and a half into it. We can't wait to get to know the girls even more, but mostly to show God's love for them.

Believe it or not- my first real book has been finished. Almost 500 pages under my belt and I can't wait for book two (hoping it will take less than 3 months to finish). My goal of finishing book one by the movie premier is complete!!

After 2 years of living in Africa they are finally home. I use the word "home" loosely because America is my home, and to my sister and her family Africa is their home. That reality is hard to swallow, but what a blessing it is to have them back, even if back means Indiana. Now I am able to pick up the phone with no interruptions on the line and just talk about life. We can't wait to see them ( in December).
I also wanted to thank everyone for your prayers for Mindie's health, she has see two doctors and they are working on a diagnosis.
